Urban Pardes: Using Movies to Dispel Stereotypes, Reduce Stigma

Urban Pardes is using a $7,500 grant from Medavie Health Foundation to help fund the Youth Awareness Matinée Program at the 2016 Au Contraire Film Festival (ACFF) on Mental Illness.

The Youth Awareness Matinée Program is designed for students at an age when symptoms of mental illness are most likely to appear. Through the emotional power of film, the program seeks to improve access to mental health care and information, providing interactive and supportive discussions with mental health professionals while reducing the stigma around seeking services and support.
